Shelter is a mixed-media collaboration piece between artist Shahd Zoubi and Dorone Paris.
This piece focuses on women’s experience to war, our place as women in war and the silent anxiety and stress in those shelter. The creation of the piece began as we recalled our unique, yet similar experiences in bomb shelters. The piece combines testimonies of women, as mothers and daughters, in shelters in Israel and Palestine. Meanwhile a performer creates a shelter from parcel tape which slowly encompasses the audience. Assistants in the crowd, hand out sweet treats and sour fruits which were an indelible part of our Shelter experiences.
